Drive in Pallet Racking

A HIGH-DENSITY STORAGE SYSTEM FOR SMALL VARIETY OF GOODS

Drive in pallet racking is a system that allows the forklift to drive directly into the lane. It’s a high-density storage system for single cargo or few varieties of goods. It has two types, drive-in and drive-through. Drive-in racking is a FILO storage system. The first pallet put into will be the last one taken out. While drive-through racking is a FIFO storage system. The first pallet put into is the first one taken out at the opposite side of the row. It’s advantageous for material with an expiration date or wherever shelf life is a major concern.

PRODUCT DETAIL

TWO TYPES OF DRIVE IN PALLET RACKING

Drive-in pallet racking and Drive-through pallet racking are two types of racking configurations that allow the forklift to drive directly into the lane of the racking. The difference between drive-in and drive-through is simply whether it has one entry at only one end or two entries at both ends. Drive-in pallet racking uses a common entry and exit, while drive-through pallet racking has entry and exit at two ends of the lane.

FIFO & FILO

FIFO is first in first out. That means the first pallet put into the lane is the first one to be taken out. Drive-through pallet racking is a FIFO system.

FILO is first in last out. That means the first pallet put into the lane is the last one to be taken out. Drive-in pallet racking is a FILO system.
